The old Republic Bank building was once the tallest in Dallas, thanks to its "rocket ship" spire.


The Mercantile Bank building's clock tower made it taller than Republic Bank, before the "rocket ship" was added.


The Mercantile building has been empty for more than a decade. It awaits redevelopment as mixed-use project, with apartments and stores.
